The true meaning of ritual can often be lost in modern society. This can be as a Rite of Passage for an individual or group – or for celebrating a particular phase of the year or moon cycle, doing this we hold the landscapes sacred again honouring as our forgotten ancestors did before we can imagine.

Ceremony involves the effective and safe creation of a holding space or circle, which allows the unfolding of whatever needs to emerge, to do so.

The space holding and witnessing is precious here as it calls for gentle, strength and allowing of what is needed in the moment to flow fully into being.

In what might be termed a magical space; in the sense that it stems from the imagination.

Ceremony performs the function of uniting individuals in community and connecting us all to that which sustains and inspires. In that sense it is very nurturing and healing: A crucial element to the wellbeing of a culture or society, a re-embering.

Rites of Passage

For so long we have been guided to reject our past the linage of land scape.  Through misdirected media and his-story and  in that the landscape of our own humanity. Through fear of rejection and admonishment.

Yet there is magic to be found in  those  who love you because you have brought your true and real self into presence.

They see you showing up with grief and joys and the return to non-ness all phases of arriving and being received.

Handfastings are a truly beautiful and magical way of marking a union – or sometimes – of re-affirming vows.

Typically I work with a couple to co-create a ceremony which fully reflects and embodies their beliefs, and most importantly, captures their love for each other. ‘Tying the knot’ is an ancient and yet very modern way of marriage: A powerful symbol of pledging one’s love to another.

I have offered literally dozens and dozens of services over the course of nearly twenty five years. Each one is unique and subtely different, yet similar, in that it connects with the magical source of love.

Where possible I love to work outdoors in nature; however I have conducted many ceremonies in equally beautiful indoor settings. I have worked with people from all strata of society and across all belief systems.

I regard it a great privilege to work together to create a magical and yet fully grounded ceremony.

It is a beautiful thing to share.

Grief Tending Circles and Ceremony 

Since people have been on this earth, they have gathered in circles. Our ancestors sat with a fire at the centre, and the crackle of logs, the scent of smoke. People all over the world and throughout time gathered to find warmth, tell stories, sing songs and speak from the heart. In places and organisations where we depend on plastic chairs, and electric light, rather than the glow of a fire, we may long to return to the practice of gathering in circle in nature. Despite modern environments, grief circles continue to be meaningful to participate in.

In Grief Tending we include embodiment, creativity and ritual in our events, and the way in which we bring a grief circle. When we practice Grief Tending, we often use a grief circle as the central part of the event. When we meet face to face, we use a variety of central practices to express feelings.

Honouring Those who have Departed.

I strive to construct a ceremony reflecting and honouring the true essence of the individual whose life we are celebrating together.

I do this by working sensitively and respectfully with relatives and loved ones, to draw out the essence and qualities of the departed.

Whilst fully honouring and marking grief, it is a wonderful opportunity to fully celebrate a life.  I have conducted numerous ceremonies marking death – both indoors in conventional settings and outdoors in less formal surroundings.

Jim’s OBOD Ovate, Nurse and Reiki Master ,wife Heather trained with the Glastonbury Goddess Temple at the same time as Jim to be a “Melissa” ~ Ceremonial Assistant” to complement Jim as Celebrant and help co ordinate and plan Ceremonies for the Awen and Nwfre to flow as it should.

Jim and Heather combine the Masculine and Feminine as a Celebrant Team United as One, who feel Blessed to be of Service in their work. They are both are willing to travel around our South West Area of Bristol and Glastonbury but are happy to consider further afield.

We are members of the Association of Independent Celebrants and Nick is currently studying at Bard grade with OBOD. Although we both gained our diplomas as wedding and funeral celebrants, we have specialised in hand fasting & vow renewals within the amazing stone circles which gives Wiltshire its worldwide fame. We are more than happy to perform other ceremonies and our love of nature has seen us performing tree blessing ceremonies for local charities and groups as they see it an important element of tree planting within the community.

Location

Sarsen Celebrants are based in the beautiful Pewsey Vale, a mere 14km from Avebury & 15km from Stonehenge on the ley line that passes through Marden Henge, between Stonehenge & Avebury. Marden contains the largest Henge in Europe, although sadly only the ditch and bank are now visible.

We were drawn here from Hampshire many years ago, as we are both very connected to the natural world, the elements and the seasons. We have a deep respect, knowledge and passion for this truly magical area and have always felt the intense spiritual energy of the Sarsen Stones and Ancient Temples of Wiltshire.

As an OBOD Druid, trained and certified in Celebrating Life and a practicing Celtic ‘Monk’ of Irish and Indian ancestry, I offer sacred rites of passage and holy intercessions. Fully Present Rites:

In the beautiful wildness of West Penwith Cornwall I can suggest mystical locations for y-our ceremony, connect you to local artists, dancers and musicians and unique after- celebration spaces. With the magic of beach fires, the singing wind, azure waves and quartzite stone circles the passion of your ritual shall be consecrated. West Penwith is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Dark Skies park.

Astral Rites:

Any ceremony can be achieved at a distance and/or in synchrony if required. Examples are when your baby is arriving and you would like me to create your new born’s unique Wind Cloak. Woven from the threads of Wyrd and the Table of the Airts , I will Wind Watch for the colour of the Wind at the moment of birth. Or you may not be able to travel to West Penwith but would like a sacred blessing on a special moment in which case I will carry out our co-created rite/ceremony e.g. A full Moon Ceremony at a stone circle, which is symbolically captured in a Pra-Hare blessed and present at the ritual. Each Pra-Hare is a uniquely handmade Ceramic Prayer Hare which I will then package off to you to be present at your later secular or independent ceremony.

But what you really need to know is that I’m a storyteller and a rite of passage guide. I create custom ceremonies from birth to earth. Whether it’s welcoming a baby or a new home, marrying your beloved with a traditional hand fasting, toasting a retirement, celebrating a milestone birthday or the life of a loved one, I can craft a ceremony to mark this moment and pay tribute to this part of your journey.

We spend so much time trying to find our way, and it’s time well spent, but it’s also important to honor where we are right now. Many times the transitions in our lives go by so quickly that the changes don’t have time to take root. When we slow down to acknowledge, honor and integrate them, we can imbue them with the sense of the sacred that they deserve.

I find beauty, power and meaning in the elements and love to include nature in ceremonies! This led me to one of my passions, holding full moon fire gatherings on the shores of Lake Michigan for my local community. Being a gushing kitty mama and dog whisperer, I have a special place in my heart for our animals companions, so I offer pet memorials as well.

I believe that ritual is more important than ever in these secular times. I am a nature lover who works with natural elements such as crystals, flowers, and trees, to add beauty, meaning and depth to the ceremony. I am based in Bristol, UK but I work in Glastonbury regularly, and can travel all over the West Country and beyond.
